Tyler, TX – The Down Syndrome Association of East Texas (DSAET) will host its annual "Step Up For Down Syndrome" Walk on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Downtown Square in Downtown Tyler. The event aims to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome, raise community awareness, and actively promote inclusion throughout the region.
The day’s activities begin with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. Participants will officially start the walk at 10:00 a.m. The Downtown Square will also feature a festival atmosphere with local vendors, food trucks, face painting for children, and bounce houses, providing entertainment for the entire family.
Funds raised from the walk directly support DSAET's programs, which are offered completely free of charge to families across 14 counties in East Texas. These vital services include new parent packets, educational initiatives, essential support groups, and a variety of community outreach efforts.
Emily Jackson, Board President for DSAET, emphasized the event's core message. "My 22-month-old son, Liam, brings so much joy and light," Jackson shared, highlighting the positive and celebratory spirit of the walk.
The Down Syndrome Association of East Texas encourages community members to participate by registering online or forming a team. Further details and registration information can be found on the DSAET's official website.
