Tyler ISD Board Approves 2024-2025 School Calendar

TYLER, Texas – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees officially approved the 2024-2025 school calendar at its regular meeting on Thursday, February 21.

The upcoming school year for Tyler ISD students will commence on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, and conclude on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Key holiday breaks included in the approved calendar are:
* Thanksgiving Break: Monday, November 25, through Friday, November 29, 2024.
* Winter Break: Monday, December 23, 2024, through Friday, January 3, 2025.
* Spring Break: Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14, 2025.

Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2025 are scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2025.

The adopted calendar, identified as "Option A," was selected following extensive community input. The district received over 10,000 responses to a survey, with 69% of participants favoring this particular schedule. Proponents of Option A highlighted its alignment with college calendars, enabling students to complete Advanced Placement (AP) exams before Memorial Day, and providing an earlier start to summer for employment or other opportunities.

Student holidays and staff work days are set for October 14, 2024, January 6, 2025, February 17, 2025, and April 18, 2025. Additionally, February 17, April 18, and May 23 are designated as bad weather make-up days, if needed.
