Tyler ISD Approves Big Pay & Retention Package

Tyler, Texas – Tyler ISD's Board of Trustees on June 17 approved a comprehensive teacher compensation and retention package for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, alongside the district's overall budget of $255,274,383. The new plan includes significant raises for educators and staff, a substantial retention incentive for returning teachers, and an increased starting salary for new hires.

Under the newly approved plan, returning Tyler ISD teachers could receive an incentive of up to $5,000. This bonus will be disbursed monthly through their paychecks, contingent upon their employment through the entire 2024-2025 academic year. Furthermore, the starting salary for new teachers joining Tyler ISD has been set at a competitive $60,000.

All returning teachers will see raises ranging from three to five percent, with the specific percentage tied to their years of experience. Beyond teaching staff, other full-time employees across the district will also receive a three percent raise on their base salary from the previous year.

Dr. Marty Crawford, Superintendent of Tyler ISD, emphasized the strategic importance of these investments. "It is critically important that we continue to attract and retain the best educators for our students," Crawford stated, highlighting the district's commitment to maintaining a competitive environment for its workforce.
