Tyler, Texas — A recent Kicks 105 Facebook post sparked a familiar and passionate discussion among Tyler residents about the restaurants and entertainment venues locals most desire, either as new additions or expanded options. The conversation highlights a persistent longing for popular chains not yet in the area and a demand for more locations of beloved establishments.
Topping many wish lists is In-N-Out Burger, a popular West Coast-based fast-food chain. Currently, Tyler residents must drive to Dallas, Grapevine, or Addison for their fix. Similarly, entertainment venues like Topgolf, with its closest locations in The Colony near Dallas or Houston, and Dave & Buster's, requiring trips to Dallas or Garland, are frequently mentioned. The Cheesecake Factory also made the list, typically necessitating a drive to Plano or Frisco.
Local residents are also holding out hope for the return of a Whataburger on South Broadway. The previous location at this spot was demolished in September 2023, with plans for a new, potentially larger facility anticipated by the community.
For existing favorites, many locals are eager for more options. Raising Cane's, which currently has a location on University Boulevard, is desired for an additional south side establishment. Despite having a massive Buc-ee's near I-20 and Highway 69 in Tyler, some residents expressed a wish for a second location on the city's north side. The unexpected closure of the Cracker Barrel several years ago still resonates, with calls for a new restaurant. More Texas Roadhouse and Olive Garden locations are also desired, building on the existing South Broadway establishments for both. Chick-fil-A, which already operates successful locations on South Broadway and Old Jacksonville Highway, sees constant requests for another south side spot.
Other highly-requested establishments that require travel include P.F. Chang's and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, typically found in the Dallas area. Culver's closest restaurant is in Longview, while Longhorn Steakhouse requires a trip to Longview or Rockwall. Torchy's Tacos fans head to Longview or Shreveport, and Shake Shack typically means a drive to Dallas or Frisco.
The ongoing discussion on the Kicks 105 Facebook page (facebook.com/kicks105) reflects the community's desire for an expanding array of dining and entertainment choices in Tyler as the city continues to grow.
