TYLER, TX – The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees has approved its compensation plan and a balanced budget of \$228,784,534 for the 2024-2025 school year. The decision, made on June 18, 2024, includes substantial pay increases for all employee groups and reflects an anticipated rise in student enrollment within the district.
The newly adopted compensation package, costing over \$8.2 million, aims to bolster recruitment and retention efforts. Teachers, librarians, nurses, counselors, and diagnosticians will receive an \$1,800 pay raise. Professional staff, including administrators, are slated for a \$1,500 increase, while auxiliary and clerical staff will see a 3% raise across the board. The starting salary for a new teacher in Tyler ISD will now be \$57,000, an increase from the previous \$55,200.
The \$228,784,534 budget for 2024-2025 represents a \$13.6 million increase from the previous year's budget. This growth is largely attributed to projected enrollment figures, with the district expecting approximately 19,000 students for the upcoming school year, up from 17,900 in 2023-2024.
Despite the Texas legislature not updating the Basic Allotment for public schools since 2019, Tyler ISD utilized local funds to implement the employee raises. Taxpayers in Tyler, TX will see no change in the property tax rate, which remains at \$0.9592 per \$100 valuation, consistent with the rate for the past two years.
