**Caldwell Arts Academy Brings Vibrant Día de los Muertos Celebration to Downtown Tyler**
Downtown Tyler buzzed with activity on Monday, October 30th, as the Caldwell Arts Academy hosted its annual Día de los Muertos celebration, drawing numerous families to the East Texas Review offices. The vibrant cultural event, held from 5 to 7 p.m. at 212 South Broadway Avenue, showcased student talent and educated the community on Mexican heritage and traditions.
Attendees were immersed in a rich display of art and performance. Students from Caldwell Arts Academy built a beautiful *ofrenda*, the traditional altar honoring departed loved ones, which served as a centerpiece for the celebration. The offices were adorned with an array of student artwork, including vibrant sugar skulls, marigolds, *papel picado*, and Catrinas, creating a burst of color both indoors and at a larger outdoor display.
The evening featured a robust cultural program, with live performances by the Caldwell Mariachi band and the Ballet Folklorico, who presented traditional dances. Students also took the stage to perform singing and poetry readings, contributing to the festive atmosphere. Guests enjoyed complimentary *pan de muerto*, sugar skull cookies, and hot chocolate, while popular face painting stations delighted children and adults alike.
The event, hosted by the East Texas Review, was organized by the Caldwell Arts Academy PTA, continuing its tradition of sharing and educating the community about Mexican heritage through art and celebration.
