**SMITH COUNTY: Multiple Crashes Disrupt I-20 Eastbound Traffic Monday Morning**

SMITH COUNTY, Texas – Multiple vehicle crashes, attributed to heavy rainfall, caused significant disruptions and closures on I-20 Eastbound in Smith County near Van Highway for several hours Monday morning.

Smith County officials began receiving reports of the crashes around 11:22 AM. One major incident involved several vehicles, leading to the complete shutdown of all main lanes on I-20 Eastbound in the affected area.

Traffic was heavily impacted, with TxDOT traffic cameras showing significant backups and vehicles barely moving by 12:12 PM, and conditions remaining congested at 1:00 PM. All main lanes were reported fully reopened around 2:00 PM.

Officials confirmed that only minor injuries were reported across all incidents, and no fatalities occurred. The Tyler Fire Department and Smith County officials responded to the scenes. The heavy rain that fell on Sunday is believed to have contributed to the slick road conditions. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, especially on wet roadways.
