**Tyler ISD Recognizes Top Graduates for Class of 2024**

Tyler Independent School District (ISD) has announced the valedictorians and salutatorians for the Class of 2024 from Tyler High School and Tyler Legacy High School, celebrating their outstanding academic achievements and dedication.

For Tyler High School, Alex Lopez-Garcia has been named valedictorian with a remarkable GPA of 108.6250. Lopez-Garcia’s extensive involvement includes Robotics, Science UIL, serving as president of the Spanish National Honor Society, and treasurer for the National Honor Society. He also volunteers at the Tyler Public Library (www.tylerlibrary.com). His accolades include being a QuestBridge National College Match Finalist and a Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar. Lopez-Garcia plans to pursue Computer Science at Princeton University (www.princeton.edu).

David Garcia earned the salutatorian honor for Tyler High School with a GPA of 108.0625. He is the president of both the National Honor Society and the STEM Club, participates in Science UIL, and is a member of the Interact Club. Garcia volunteers at St. Louis Catholic Church (www.stlouiscatholic.org) and has received a certificate from the Texas House of Representatives (www.house.texas.gov). He will attend the University of Texas at Austin (www.utexas.edu) to study Computer Engineering.

Tyler Legacy High School celebrates a unique achievement with twins securing both top spots. Andrew T. Wold is the valedictorian with an impressive GPA of 109.9167. His four years of participation in UIL Mathematics, along with UIL Science, membership in the National Honor Society, and serving as president of Mu Alpha Theta, highlight his academic prowess. Wold has also held officer roles in the National English, Social Studies, and Science Honor Societies. He is a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Andrew volunteers within the Legacy High School community and at St. Louis Catholic Church, and he is set to study Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin (www.utexas.edu).

Katherine D. Wold, Andrew’s twin sister, is Tyler Legacy High School's salutatorian with a GPA of 109.4375. She shares an equally impressive list of extracurriculars and awards, including UIL Math and Science, various honor societies, National Merit Commended Scholar, and AP Scholar with Distinction. Katherine also volunteers at Legacy High School and St. Louis Catholic Church. She will join her brother at the University of Texas at Austin (www.utexas.edu) to pursue Computer Science.

Graduation ceremonies for the Tyler ISD Class of 2024 will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at The University of Texas at Tyler (www.uttyler.edu). Tyler High School's ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., followed by Tyler Legacy High School's ceremony at 1:00 p.m.
