Tyler head-on crash injures 2, closes Highway 31

**Head-On Collision on SH 31 West of Tyler Injures Two, Shuts Down Roadway Monday**

TYLER, Texas – A head-on collision on State Highway 31 East west of Tyler sent two people to a local hospital and closed the roadway for several hours on Monday, April 22.

The crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. in the 20000 block of SH 31 E, near the intersection with Van Highway, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Investigators reported that a silver 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, traveling westbound, crossed the center line. It then collided head-on with a white 2007 Ford F-150 that was traveling eastbound.

Two individuals involved in the crash sustained injuries and were transported by EMS to a local hospital. Their current conditions have not been released.

State Highway 31 East was completely shut down following the incident, causing significant traffic delays for several hours. The roadway was reopened to traffic by approximately 2:45 p.m. Monday afternoon.
