**Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Shuts Down Toll 49 Southbound Near Tyler**

**TYLER, Texas** – One person was killed and multiple others were injured in a tragic multi-vehicle collision that shut down the southbound lanes of Toll 49 just outside Tyler for several hours on Monday, December 8.

The devastating incident occurred near the FM 757 exit when a semi-truck reportedly rear-ended another vehicle in the southbound lanes. This initial impact triggered a chain reaction involving at least three other vehicles, causing significant disruption and damage.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. One person was pronounced dead at the crash site, and several injured individuals were transported to UT Health Tyler for treatment. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

In the aftermath, authorities completely closed the southbound side of Toll 49, diverting all traffic onto FM 757 while investigators and cleanup crews worked. The road remained closed for several hours, impacting evening commutes.
