Tyler Ex-Teacher Miller Arrested for Sex Assault

Michael J. Miller, a 37-year-old former teacher at Tyler High School, was arrested Monday, November 20, in Tyler on charges of sexual assault and improper relationship between an educator and a student. His bond has been set at a combined $125,000, with $75,000 allocated for the sexual assault charge and $50,000 for the improper relationship charge.

According to Tyler Police spokesperson Andy Ehlert, the allegations stem from an improper relationship that reportedly began in December 2021 with a female student who was 17 years old at the time, continuing into 2022. Some of the alleged assaults are reported to have occurred at Miller's residence in Tyler.

Tyler ISD, which formerly employed Miller at Tyler High (previously John Tyler High School), first alerted the Tyler Police Department to the allegations in March 2023. Miller resigned from the district in April 2023, prior to his arrest.

Tyler ISD has confirmed its full cooperation with law enforcement throughout the ongoing investigation since the initial allegations were brought forward.
