**Tyler ISD Advances $198.5 Million Bond Projects with New Construction and Groundbreakings**
Tyler, TX – Tyler Independent School District is making significant progress on its $198.5 million bond program, approved by voters in November 2022, with recent construction starts and groundbreakings scheduled for three new elementary schools next month. The bond initiatives aim to accommodate growth, enhance safety, and upgrade facilities across the district.
Construction commenced in February 2024 at Rice Elementary, located at 2150 Rice Rd, Tyler, TX. The project includes the addition of a new two-story wing housing 16 classrooms, a new multipurpose space, and an updated entrance canopy. Renovations are also underway for the administrative and clinic areas. This expansion is projected for completion by December 2025.
Similarly, Hubbard Middle School, situated at 1500 Hubbard Dr, Tyler, TX, began its bond-funded construction in February 2024. The school will receive a new two-story academic wing with 16 additional classrooms, a new multipurpose room, and an expanded cafeteria. Administrative and clinic areas will also undergo significant renovations. The completion for Hubbard Middle School is also anticipated by December 2025.
A major component of the bond program, three new elementary schools designed to alleviate overcrowding at Bell, Clark, and Caldwell elementary schools, are on track for groundbreakings in May 2024. Each school is designed to accommodate 800 students. The planned locations for these new facilities are:
* South of Grande and west of old Rhones Quarter Road, Tyler, TX.
* West of Earl Campbell Parkway, north of Highway 155, Tyler, TX.
* On West Grande, Tyler, TX.
These three elementary schools are expected to open their doors to students in August 2026.
Beyond the major construction projects, the bond program encompasses a wide range of district-wide improvements. These include critical security upgrades, HVAC replacements, new roofing installations, and general renovations to ensure optimal learning environments for all students.
