**Tyler ISD Appoints Dr. Marty L. Crawford as New Superintendent**
Tyler, TX – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees officially voted to appoint Dr. Marty L. Crawford as the district's new Superintendent on Tuesday, September 19. Dr. Crawford is set to begin his tenure on Monday, October 2, succeeding interim Superintendent Dr. Brad Tyler.
Dr. Crawford brings a wealth of experience to Tyler ISD, having served as the Superintendent of Plainview Independent School District since 2017. Prior to his role in Plainview, he was Superintendent in Athens Independent School District. His extensive career in public education also includes leadership positions in Pasadena Independent School District, Bryan Independent School District, and San Angelo Independent School District.
"We are incredibly thrilled to welcome Dr. Crawford to Tyler ISD," stated Yvonne King, President of the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees. "He is a visionary leader whose proven track record aligns perfectly with our district's goals and commitment to excellence."
Academically, Dr. Crawford holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, a Master of Education from Tarleton State University, and a Bachelor of Science from Abilene Christian University.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Dr. Crawford commented, "I am deeply honored to serve the students, staff, and community of Tyler ISD. I am passionate about public education and look forward to contributing to the district's continued success." During his time at Plainview ISD, Dr. Crawford was credited with increasing academic success, improving fiscal management, and successfully passing a bond program.
Dr. Crawford's stated priorities for Tyler ISD include fostering student success, ensuring the retention of highly qualified teachers, enhancing community involvement, and maintaining the high standards for which the district is known.
