TYLER, TX – The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year during its meeting on February 19th. Thanksgiving Break is set for the entire week of November 25th through 29th, 2024. The Christmas break will begin for students on December 23rd, 2024, with classes resuming on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025. Spring Break is scheduled for March 10th through 14th, 2025.
Early release days for students are designated for Friday, December 20th, 2024, immediately preceding the Christmas holiday, and the final day of school, Friday, May 23rd, 2025.
Additional student holidays, which will serve as staff development days for educators, include:
* Monday, September 2nd, 2024
* Monday, October 14th, 2024
* Monday, November 4th, 2024
* Monday, January 20th, 2025
* Monday, February 17th, 2025
* Friday, March 28th, 2025
* Friday, April 18th, 2025
The calendar was developed through a collaborative effort involving a committee of parents, teachers, and administrators. The committee considered feedback gathered from a district-wide survey conducted from January 19th to February 4th, which garnered 1,939 responses. The survey results heavily favored Option A, which ultimately received board approval.
The 2024-2025 calendar ensures Tyler ISD meets the state's requirement of 75,600 instructional minutes, as mandated by HB 2016.
