**Tyler ISD Approves $9.4 Million Compensation Plan, Boosts Starting Teacher Salary to $60,000**
**TYLER, Texas** – The Tyler Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees officially approved a comprehensive $9.4 million compensation plan for the 2024-2025 school year during its meeting on May 21. The plan introduces significant pay raises and enhanced benefits aimed at attracting and retaining high-quality staff within the district.
A cornerstone of the new plan is the increase in the starting teacher salary, which will now stand at $60,000. This competitive adjustment is part of a broader strategy to ensure Tyler ISD remains an attractive employer in the region.
Under the new structure, teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses across the district will receive a 3% pay raise, guaranteeing a minimum increase of $1,800 annually. Administrators, including assistant principals and directors, will see a 2% raise.
The plan also extends benefits to other vital staff members. Auxiliary, professional, and paraprofessional employees are slated to receive a minimum increase of $0.50 per hour, which translates to at least $1,000 annually.
Beyond direct salary increases, the compensation package includes several other key enhancements. Tyler ISD will increase its employer contribution to health insurance premiums, covering 75% for employee-only coverage. Adjustments have also been made to longevity pay, and stipends will be offered for dual language, special education, and other hard-to-fill positions, recognizing the critical demand for these specialized roles.
The district developed this plan through a dedicated committee comprising staff from various campuses, ensuring input from across the organization. The goal is to maintain Tyler ISD's competitiveness with surrounding school districts and to continue making a substantial investment in its dedicated workforce for the upcoming school year.
