Jairo Torres Dies in Tyler Pedestrian Accident

TYLER, Texas – A Tyler man died Friday night after being struck by a truck in an auto-pedestrian crash on South Donnybrook Avenue near Paluxy Drive. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on May 24.

Tyler Police identified the deceased pedestrian as 31-year-old Jairo Torres, a resident of Tyler. According to preliminary reports, Torres was walking in the roadway when he was hit by a black 2017 Ram 1500 truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 22-year-old Oscar Diaz, also from Tyler, was not injured in the crash.

The Tyler Police Department's Traffic Unit is actively investigating the incident. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the crash.

South Donnybrook Avenue was closed for several hours into early Saturday morning as investigators processed the scene.
