Steven Dale Calhoun, a devoted family man and longtime fixture in the Tyler business community, passed away on May 29, 2024, at UT Health East Texas in Tyler. He was 72.
Born on May 24, 1952, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mr. Calhoun was the son of the late Dale and Barbara Calhoun. He graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in Oklahoma in 1970 before attending Central State University.
He met Brenda in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1977, and they married there on August 19, 1978. Together, they raised two children. Mr. Calhoun dedicated 38 years of his career to Tyler Pipe Industries, retiring in 2013 as plant manager.
Mr. Calhoun was known for his kindness and generosity. He held a deep passion for golf, frequently enjoying the various courses across East Texas, and cherished time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Calhoun; his daughter, Amber King, and her husband Justin of Bullard, Texas; his son, Blake Calhoun, and his wife Melissa of Tyler, Texas; and four grandchildren, Presley, Lilly, Emery King, and Lennox Calhoun. He also leaves behind his brother, Larry Calhoun of Flower Mound, Texas, and his sister, Susan Fielder of Edmond, Oklahoma.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 5 to 7 PM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, located at 1011 East First Street, Tyler. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 4, at 11 AM at the Green Acres Baptist Church Chapel, 1607 Troup Highway, Tyler, with Dr. David O. Dykes officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2525 South Donnybrook Avenue, Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Hospice of East Texas or the Alzheimer's Association.
