Tyler ISD Sets 2024-2025 School Calendar, Key Dates Announced

The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year on March 19, 2024, confirming August 14, 2024, as the first day of school for students.

Students in Tyler, Texas, will begin the new academic year on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The calendar includes a full week off for Thanksgiving, from November 25 through November 29, 2024. Winter Break is scheduled from December 23, 2024, with students returning on Monday, January 6, 2025. Students will have an early release day on December 20, 2024, before the Winter Break. Spring Break will run from March 10-14, 2025, and the last day of school, which will also be an early release day, is set for Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Additional student and staff holidays include Labor Day on September 2, 2024, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 20, 2025. Students will also have days off for staff professional learning on October 14, 2024, November 4, 2024, January 17, 2025, February 17, 2025, and April 21, 2025.

The calendar incorporates bad weather make-up days on March 28, 2025, and April 18, 2025. If these days are not needed for make-up, March 28th will become a student holiday and staff professional learning day, while April 18th will be observed as a District holiday, coinciding with Good Friday.

The calendar was developed by a committee comprising parents, community members, teachers, and administrators. It aims to maximize instructional time and provide balanced breaks, fulfilling the state's requirement of 75,600 minutes of instruction.
