Tyler ISD's $42M Career Tech Center Now Open

**Tyler ISD to Host Ribbon-Cutting for Expanded Career and Technology Center at Tyler Legacy High School**

TYLER, TX – Tyler ISD is set to officially celebrate the grand opening of its significantly expanded Career and Technology Center (CTE) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at Tyler Legacy High School, located at 11637 TX-155 N in Tyler, where the state-of-the-art facility is housed.

The new two-story, 107,000-square-foot addition to the existing CTE building at Tyler Legacy High School opened its doors to students in January of 2024, marking a new era for career and technical education in the district. The extensive upgrade represents an approximate $42 million investment, fully funded by the district’s 2017 Bond package. VLK Architects designed the impressive facility.

The expanded CTE Center dramatically broadens the scope of vocational training available to Tyler ISD students, now housing 14 distinct programs. These programs are equipped with industry-standard technology and resources designed to provide hands-on experience and prepare students for immediate entry into various professions or continued education.

Among the programs offered are Health Science, featuring advanced simulation mannequins for realistic training; Welding, with actual booths for practical application; Automotive, outfitted with state-of-the-art bay lifts; and Culinary Arts, boasting full commercial kitchens. Other comprehensive programs include Law Enforcement, Audio/Video Production, Graphic Design, Web Design, Business, Marketing, Construction, HVAC, Education & Training, and Cosmetology.

The substantial investment and expansion underscore Tyler ISD's commitment to equipping its students with essential skills and pathways to successful careers, strengthening the local workforce and economy.
