**Tyler ISD Approves 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar**
TYLER, TX – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees officially approved the instructional calendar for the 2024-2025 academic year during its meeting on January 16, 2024, in Tyler. The new calendar sets key dates for students and staff, including the start and end of the school year, holidays, and early release days.
Students will begin the 2024-2025 school year on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The last day of school for students will be Thursday, May 22, 2025, which will be an early release day.
Key dates and breaks for the upcoming academic year include:
* **Labor Day:** Monday, September 2, 2024
* **Early Release Day:** Friday, October 25, 2024
* **Thanksgiving Break:** Monday, November 25, 2024, through Friday, November 29, 2024. Students return Monday, December 2, 2024.
* **Early Release Day:** Friday, December 20, 2024 (before Winter Break)
* **Winter Break:** Monday, December 23, 2024, through Friday, January 3, 2025. Students return Monday, January 6, 2025. (Monday, January 6, 2025, is a staff development day for staff.)
* **MLK Day:** Monday, January 20, 2025
* **Early Release Day:** Friday, March 7, 2025 (before Spring Break)
* **Spring Break:** Monday, March 10, 2025, through Friday, March 14, 2025. Students return Monday, March 17, 2025.
* **Good Friday:** April 18, 2025
The district has also designated two bad weather make-up days: Friday, April 4, 2025, and Friday, May 23, 2025.
The approved calendar was developed and recommended by the District Calendar Committee, a group comprised of administrators, teachers, and parents from across Tyler ISD. Two calendar options were made available for public review and comment via a survey on the Tyler ISD website (tylerisd.org) between November 29 and December 12, 2023. Option A received a strong majority of the votes, with 70.3% in favor, leading to its ultimate approval by the Board of Trustees.
