**Fatal 18-Wheeler Crash Closes Toll 49 in Smith County**

SMITH COUNTY – One person died Tuesday morning following a crash involving an 18-wheeler on Toll 49 in Smith County. The incident led to the complete closure of a significant section of the toll road for several hours.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) confirmed the fatality, stating the crash occurred near Farm-to-Market Road 14 (FM 14).

In response to the serious collision, authorities closed both directions of Toll 49 to conduct an investigation. The closure extended from Grande Boulevard all the way to FM 14, causing substantial traffic disruptions throughout the morning commute.

Toll 49 was fully reopened to traffic by Tuesday afternoon, according to officials. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
