**Tyler Leaders Advocate for Local Priorities at State Capitol**

AUSTIN, TX – Over 60 business and community leaders from Tyler and Smith County traveled to Austin on Monday, March 27, 2023, for "Chamber Day at the Capitol," an initiative focused on advocating for the region's legislative priorities at the state level.

Spearheaded by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, the Tyler Economic Development Council (TEDC), and the City of Tyler, the delegation engaged in a full day of meetings and activities within the Texas State Capitol. Participants attended committee hearings, observed House and Senate proceedings, and met directly with key elected officials to discuss issues vital to the Tyler area.

Among the officials met were Senator Bryan Hughes, Representative Matt Schaefer, and Representative Jay Dean, providing an opportunity for direct dialogue on local concerns.

The day's agenda included lunch at the Capitol Grille, and concluded with a networking reception held at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. The event aimed to strengthen relationships with state lawmakers and ensure that Tyler's voice is clearly heard in the legislative process.
