**Bullard City Council Approves New Taco Bell with Conditions**
BULLARD – The Bullard City Council has granted final approval for a new Taco Bell restaurant, slated for construction on Highway 69 North, following a series of discussions and a conditional vote at their May 16th meeting.
The restaurant is planned for a 1.15-acre vacant parcel located on Highway 69 North, in close proximity to Bullard Primary School.
Discussions for the project began as early as January 2023. The development required a zoning change for the lot from C-1 (Neighborhood Commercial) to C-2 (General Commercial). The Bullard Planning & Zoning Commission first reviewed the request on May 2nd, recommending its progression to the City Council.
During the City Council's initial consideration on May 9th, residents raised significant concerns regarding the project. Primary worries included the potential for increased traffic impact on Highway 69 North, particularly given its proximity to Bullard Primary School. Questions were also raised about the existing water and sewer capacity in the area.
Addressing these concerns, the City Council voted to approve the project at its May 16th meeting, contingent upon several key conditions. Developers are required to complete a comprehensive traffic impact analysis, secure final approval from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and demonstrate sufficient water and sewer capacity to support the new establishment.
