**East Texas Residents Face Tornado Warnings on Valentine's Day**
East Texas experienced a tense Valentine's Day, February 14, as the region was placed under a series of tornado warnings starting in the mid-afternoon due to a rotating thunderstorm.
The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Shreveport, Louisiana (www.weather.gov/shv), issued the initial Tornado Warning around 2:40 PM CST. This urgent alert encompassed residents in Anderson, Cherokee, and Henderson counties, specifically highlighting communities such as Palestine, Jacksonville, and Henderson, Texas. Radar imagery indicated a rotating thunderstorm in the area, prompting the immediate warning for public safety.
Initially, the warning was slated to expire at 3:30 PM CST. However, the NWS subsequently extended the alert, maintaining a heightened sense of vigilance until approximately 4:00 PM CST before it finally expired for the initial set of counties.
The severe weather threat continued to develop throughout the afternoon. Additional tornado warnings were later issued for other parts of the region, including Smith and Rusk counties, contributing to a significantly tense Valentine's Day for many East Texans as they monitored the evolving weather conditions.
