East Texas Prepares for Jam-Packed Weekend of Events, From Pickleball to Chili
East Texas residents can look forward to a diverse array of activities this coming weekend, with events spanning from high-energy sports to culinary delights and family-friendly fun across Tyler and Palestine. The schedule kicks off on Friday, January 31st, 2025, and continues through Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, offering something for all ages and interests.
**Friday, January 31st, 2025**
The weekend begins with a free Pickleball Social at the Tyler Pickleball Club, located at 4100 North Frankston Highway, Tyler. Intermediate and advanced players are invited to mix and match from 6 PM to 8 PM.
**Saturday, February 1st, 2025**
Saturday offers a trio of events. The Palestine Chili Cook-Off will heat things up at the Palestine Civic Center, 1819 West Palestine Avenue, Palestine, from 10 AM to 2 PM. This free-to-attend event promises live music, bounce houses for children, and awards for the best chili.
Simultaneously, the Discovery Science Place in Tyler celebrates International LEGO Day from 10 AM to 4 PM. Located at 308 North Broadway Avenue, Tyler, the celebration will feature various build stations and creative challenges. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for children aged three to twelve, and free for children two and under or Discovery Science Place members.
For an evening of classic entertainment, Liberty Hall in Tyler will screen the iconic film "Grease." Doors open at 6 PM, with the movie beginning at 7 PM. Tickets are $10, and the venue is located at 103 East Erwin Street, Tyler.

The weekend concludes with competitive spirit at the Tyler Pickleball Club, 4100 North Frankston Highway, Tyler, which hosts a Mixed Doubles Tournament. Starting at 9 AM, this tournament is open to adults 18 and older, with teams divided by skill levels. The entry fee is $35 per team, and cash prizes will be awarded to winners.
