Jacksonville Police Officer Shot, Suspect Sought
A Jacksonville Police officer was shot late Friday night, November 1, 2025, and is recovering in stable condition. Law enforcement agencies are actively searching for a male suspect involved in the incident.
Officer J. Rodriguez was injured around 11:45 PM on the 500 block of West Rusk Street in Jacksonville, reportedly near the Family Dollar store. He was transported to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have not yet released extensive details about the circumstances leading to the shooting. The suspect is described as a male, possibly in his late 20s, approximately 5'10" to 6'0" tall, and was last seen wearing a dark blue hoodie and dark pants. He remains at large as of Saturday morning.
The Jacksonville Police Department is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers. The search for the suspect has been ongoing throughout the morning of November 2.
