Major Crash Closes Highway 69 Northbound Lanes Near Tyler
Northbound lanes of Highway 69, just north of Tyler, were completely shut down for nearly three hours Monday afternoon following a major vehicle crash near FM 724. The incident occurred on May 13, 2024, causing significant traffic delays.
The collision began around 1:19 p.m., prompting first responders to the scene. Traffic came to a standstill, and motorists were advised to seek alternate routes. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officially listed the event as a "major" incident on its traffic monitoring website, DriveTexas.org, highlighting its severity and impact.
Emergency crews worked to clear the scene for several hours. All northbound lanes of Highway 69, located north of Tyler, were successfully reopened to traffic around 4:00 p.m. that same afternoon, preventing extended disruption to the evening commute.
