**Oil Palace in Tyler Celebrates Decades of Legendary Performances, Announces Upcoming Shows**
Tyler, Texas – The Oil Palace, a cornerstone of East Texas entertainment for over four decades, continues its tradition of hosting world-renowned artists, drawing significant talent to the region since its opening in 1983. Located in Tyler, the venue has consistently delivered star-studded events across multiple genres and shows no signs of slowing down, with major acts already scheduled for later this year.
The venue first opened its doors on May 29, 1983, with a memorable performance by Barbara Mandrell and Lee Greenwood. That inaugural year also saw legends like the Oak Ridge Boys on October 15 and Willie Nelson on November 17, alongside multiple early visits from George Strait.
Throughout the 1980s and 90s, the Oil Palace stage welcomed a diverse array of superstars. Merle Haggard played on April 20, 1984, followed by country icons Alabama and Reba McEntire, who first performed in 1987. Garth Brooks made an appearance in 1990. Beyond country, rock giants graced the venue, including Lynyrd Skynyrd on July 24, 1993, ZZ Top on November 12, 1994, and Def Leppard on May 14, 1996. A truly diverse booking saw Celine Dion perform on October 16, 1996.
The turn of the millennium brought more pop and rock sensations, with the Backstreet Boys on September 22, 1999, and Kid Rock on January 28, 2000. A notable performance by then-rising star Taylor Swift took place on February 2, 2008.
