Patriots Softball Blasts Northeastern State

TYLER, Texas – The UT Tyler Patriots softball team secured a decisive 9-3 non-conference victory over Northeastern State on Tuesday, March 26th, at the UT Tyler Softball Complex – Irwin Field. The win improved the Patriots' season record to an impressive 30-2.

UT Tyler's offense established dominance early, with Courtney Adkins launching a two-run home run in the first inning, immediately followed by a solo shot from Michelle Salas. The Patriots continued to build their lead in the second inning as Audrey Escamilla hit a two-run bomb, and Sammi Quintero drove in Kenzie Rieger with a two-run single.

Northeastern State's Sydney Price recorded a solo home run in the third inning to put her team on the scoreboard. However, Makayla Garcia responded for UT Tyler in the fourth, hitting another solo home run to extend the Patriots' advantage.

On the mound, JT Amador started for UT Tyler, pitching two innings and allowing one earned run. Shea O'Leary followed with two innings of scoreless relief, and Sarah Gartman closed out the game, striking out four batters over her final three innings. Northeastern State attempted to rally in the fifth inning with RBI singles from Emily Sampson and Chloe Bohuslavicky, but their efforts were not enough to overcome the Patriots' lead.

The Patriots will next compete in a Lone Star Conference series at home against Western New Mexico. That series is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 29th, and conclude on Saturday, March 30th, at the UT Tyler Softball Complex – Irwin Field, located in Tyler, Texas. Northeastern State, now with a 21-12 record, is set to play an MIAA series against Washburn on Thursday and Friday at their home field.
