Tyler’s Rose Queen Shares Local Story with Elementary Students
Tyler, TX – Rose Queen Avery Armstrong recently delighted a group of Tyler ISD elementary students with a special reading of the children's book "Queen's Tea" at the Stewart Middle School auditorium, located at 2001 S. Donnybrook Ave., Tyler, TX 75701. The event was a cherished part of the annual Rose Festival activities, fostering literacy and celebrating local talent.
"Queen's Tea" holds a special local connection, penned by Tyler resident Susan B. Parker and beautifully illustrated by her daughter, Lynn Parker. The book, published in 2022 by Storybook Publishers of Arizona, features vibrant illustrations depicting children attending the very Rose Festival that Queen Armstrong represents, making the reading particularly fitting for the occasion.
The reading provided students with an engaging experience, connecting them directly with the Rose Festival's traditions and a story crafted by members of their own community. Events like these, hosted by Tyler ISD (www.tylerisd.org) in conjunction with the Rose Festival, aim to inspire young readers and highlight the rich cultural heritage of Tyler.
