**Longtime Smith County Justice of the Peace Quincy Beavers Dies at 63**

Smith County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3, Quincy Beavers, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at the age of 63. The news was confirmed by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Gary Alfred.

Judge Beavers dedicated well over two decades to serving as the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3 in Smith County, located in East Texas. His extensive career in public service also included a tenure on the Smith County Commissioner’s Court. Prior to his judicial roles, Beavers served as a certified peace officer, including time as a police officer for the City of Tyler. He was unopposed in the November 2022 election, securing his current term.

The passing of Judge Beavers creates a vacancy in the Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace seat. The Smith County Commissioners Court will be responsible for calling a special election to fill the position, which must occur within 120 days of the vacancy. The individual elected will serve the remainder of the current term, which concludes on December 31, 2026. The same Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace position will then be on the ballot again during the November 2026 general election for a new four-year term.
