**Tyler Woman Killed in Smith County Pit Bull Attack**

**SMITH COUNTY, Texas** — A 32-year-old Tyler woman, Brittany Johnson, died last Sunday, April 28, after being attacked by three pit bull dogs at a friend's home in rural Smith County.

The incident occurred at a residence in the 2800 block of Country Road 1134, located just outside of Tyler. According to her mother, Kathy Johnson, who has lived in Tyler for 55 years, Brittany had arrived at the home that Sunday morning. As she exited her vehicle, the three pit bulls, reportedly outside the house, attacked her. Kathy Johnson received the devastating news around 11:30 AM.

Brittany Johnson had recently purchased a new car and was planning a road trip to Austin to visit her 9-year-old daughter, a trip her mother said she was very excited about.

Deputies with the Smith County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and took control of the dogs. The Sheriff's Office has not yet released the owner's name, stating that the investigation is ongoing. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the fatal attack. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
