Texas Senate: Allred Outspends Cruz in Key Period

**Allred Outraises, Outspends Cruz in Recent Filing Period, Setting Stage for Competitive Texas U.S. Senate Race**

**AUSTIN, Texas** – The Texas U.S. Senate race is quickly shaping up to be one of the nation's most expensive and closely watched contests, with Democratic challenger Colin Allred significantly outraising and outspending incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz in the lead-up to the March 5th primary.

Between January 1st and February 14th, Allred, a U.S. Representative from Dallas, pulled in an impressive $2.5 million and spent $3.8 million. This spending spree left his campaign with a robust $10 million cash on hand by February 14th, surpassing Cruz's available funds. Allred has raised approximately $21 million since launching his campaign for the Senate seat.

In contrast, Senator Cruz raised approximately $1.1 million during the same six-week period but spent more than twice that, around $2.4 million. Cruz's campaign ended the period with about $8.4 million cash on hand, though he boasts a formidable overall fundraising total of nearly $40 million for this campaign cycle. While Cruz has largely refrained from advertising for his own primary, his expenditures during this period focused on digital ads, consultants, and travel.

Meanwhile, Roland Gutierrez, a state senator from San Antonio and Allred's primary rival, has struggled to keep pace financially. Gutierrez reported raising only about $500,000 and spending roughly $600,000 in the January 1st to February 14th timeframe, leaving him with just over $100,000 in his campaign coffers. Allred and Gutierrez have been actively spending on TV advertisements ahead of the March 5th Democratic primary.

The winner of the Democratic primary will advance to challenge Senator Cruz in the general election on November 5th in Texas. Campaign finance data, including detailed receipts and disbursements, is publicly available via the Federal Election Commission (FEC) at FEC.gov. Information regarding primary and general election details can be found on the Texas Secretary of State's election website.
