**Tyler ISD Transforms Campuses with Completion of $198 Million Bond Projects**
Tyler, TX – Tyler Independent School District (ISD) has largely completed its ambitious construction and renovation projects, fulfilling the promises made to residents when they approved a $198 million bond on November 7, 2017. The comprehensive plan aimed to address district growth, update aging facilities, enhance safety, and bolster technology and career programs, all without increasing the local tax rate.
The districtwide transformation began to materialize quickly after the bond's approval. By Fall 2019, two state-of-the-art elementary schools, Gresham Elementary and Clarkston Elementary, opened their doors, each designed to accommodate 700 students. In the same timeframe, the former Hubbard Middle School underwent a significant remodel, reopening as an elementary school.
High schools saw extensive overhauls. Tyler High School completed its major renovations by Spring 2022, featuring a new 1,000-seat auditorium, a competition gym, and a dedicated wing for Career and Technical Education (CTE). Tyler Legacy High School followed suit, concluding its massive renovation by Fall 2023, which also included a 1,000-seat auditorium, competition gym, and a new CTE wing.
A cornerstone of the bond program is the new 140,000 square foot Career and Technology Center. Officially opened in Fall 2023 adjacent to Tyler Legacy High School, this facility is a shared resource for students from both Tyler High and Tyler Legacy. It offers advanced training in diverse fields such as culinary arts, health sciences, architecture, construction, automotive technology, welding, and cosmetology, preparing students for various career paths. More details on academic programs can be found on the district's website, [www.tylerisd.org](http://www.tylerisd.org/).
Middle schools also received substantial upgrades. Moore Middle School saw its major renovations, including a new academic wing, finished by Fall 2021. Hogg Middle School completed its extensive facelift and new academic wing by Fall 2022. Three Lakes Middle School wrapped up its major renovations, also gaining a new academic wing, by Fall 2023. Additionally, fine arts programs across several middle schools benefited from upgrades to their orchestra and band halls.
Beyond academic and CTE facilities, the bond addressed critical infrastructure and extracurricular needs. Athletic facilities at Moore, Hogg, Three Lakes, and Boulter Middle Schools received track and field renovations, alongside upgrades to several school gyms. Rose Stadium also saw significant improvements, including a new scoreboard, sound system, and field turf replacement.
District-wide security was a paramount focus, with comprehensive enhancements implemented across all campuses. These include controlled access systems, new security cameras, and enhanced access control systems to ensure student and staff safety. Technology infrastructure was significantly boosted with new devices, interactive displays, and digital curriculum rolled out across the district. The transportation department also saw a refresh with new bus replacements, improving student transport.
