**Tyler ISD Approves 2022-2023 Academic Calendar, Setting Key Dates for Students and Staff**
Tyler ISD has officially approved its academic calendar for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, outlining key dates for student instruction, staff development, and major holidays. Students across the district will begin classes on Monday, August 22nd, with the last day of school scheduled for Friday, May 26th, an early release day for K-12 students.
For staff, new teacher orientation is set to commence on August 8th, followed by general professional development from August 15th through the 18th. Another professional development day for staff is scheduled for January 3rd, prior to students resuming classes.
Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2023 are planned for Saturday, May 27th, the day after the academic year concludes for students.
The calendar includes several extended breaks. A full week off for Thanksgiving is slated from November 21st to November 25th. The Christmas and New Year break will run from December 19th through January 2nd, with students returning to class on January 4th. Spring Break is scheduled for a full week, from March 13th to March 17th.
Additional holidays integrated into the calendar include Labor Day on September 5th, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 16th, and Good Friday on April 7th.
Tyler ISD has also established a system for potential bad weather make-up days. Three "Flex Learning Weeks" are designated for this purpose: September 26th-30th, January 17th-20th, and April 24th-28th. Should these not be needed or if more instructional days are lost, designated holidays such as October 10th, February 20th (Presidents' Day), and April 10th would be utilized as make-up days.
K-12 students will have early release on three dates throughout the year: October 28th, December 16th (which also marks the end of the first semester), and the final day of school on May 26th.
The full academic calendar can be viewed on the Tyler ISD website at tylerisd.org.
