Tyler ISD Board Approves 2024-2025 School Calendar
Tyler, TX – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees officially approved the 2024-2025 school calendar during its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 19. The newly adopted calendar outlines key dates for students and staff, including the start and end of the academic year, holiday breaks, and early release days.
Students will kick off the 2024-2025 school year on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The last day of school for students is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Major breaks for the upcoming school year include Thanksgiving Break, observed from November 25 through November 29, 2024. Winter Break will provide an extended period of time off, running from December 23, 2024, to January 3, 2025. Spring Break is set for March 10 through March 14, 2025. Good Friday, April 18, 2025, will also be a student holiday.
Additional student holidays throughout the year include September 23, 2024, October 14, 2024, and November 4, 2024. Following Winter Break, January 6, 2025, will be a student holiday while staff engage in professional development. Students will also have no school on February 17, 2025, and April 21, 2025.
The calendar includes two early release days: Friday, December 20, 2024, before Winter Break, and the final day of school, Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The approved calendar, designated as Option A, was developed by a district Calendar Committee. It was selected based on overwhelming community preference expressed through an online survey conducted from February 12 to February 23, 2024. The survey received more than 2,600 responses from parents, students, staff, and community members, with 75% favoring Option A.
