**Tyler ISD Board Approves 2024-2025 School Calendar, Adopting Community-Preferred Option B**

The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees officially approved the instructional calendar for the 2024-2025 school year during its meeting on February 20. Following extensive community input, the board adopted Option B, which was the overwhelming preference in a recent online survey.

An online survey conducted from December 4 to December 15 engaged parents, staff, and community members in the decision-making process for the upcoming academic year. Out of over 4,800 respondents, Option B garnered a significant 70% of the votes, totaling 3,360 individuals expressing their preference.

The newly approved calendar for Tyler ISD outlines the following key dates for students:

* **First Day of School:** Wednesday, August 14, 2024
* **Last Day of School:** Friday, May 23, 2025
* **Thanksgiving Break:** Monday, November 25 – Friday, November 29, 2024
* **Winter Break:** Monday, December 23, 2024 – Monday, January 6, 2025 (Students return Tuesday, January 7, 2025)
* **Spring Break:** Monday, March 10 – Friday, March 14, 2025
* **Student Holidays (for Staff Development):** Monday, October 14, 2024; Monday, February 17, 2025; Friday, April 18, 2025

The calendar also designates specific days for potential bad weather makeup. Should school closures be necessary, Friday, April 18, 2025, and Friday, May 23, 2025, are earmarked as makeup days.
