Tyler ISD 2024-25 School Calendar Approved

TYLER, Texas – The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year during its March 18, 2024, meeting, establishing key dates for students and staff.

Students in Tyler ISD will begin the new academic year on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The last day of school for the 2024-2025 calendar is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The approved calendar includes several significant breaks throughout the year:
* Thanksgiving break is a full week, from Monday, November 25, to Friday, November 29, 2024.
* The Christmas and Winter break will commence on Monday, December 23, 2024. Students will return to classes on Monday, January 6, 2025, with the final day of the break being Friday, January 3, 2025.
* Spring Break is set for Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14, 2025.

Additionally, the calendar designates several student holidays which will serve as staff professional development days: September 2, 2024; October 14, 2024; January 20, 2025; February 17, 2025; and April 18, 2025.

The district has also scheduled two bad weather makeup days, if needed, for April 18, 2025, and May 23, 2025. Early release days are planned for Friday, December 20, 2024, and the last day of school, Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The approved calendar, designated as "Option B," was selected following a comprehensive feedback process that gathered input from parents, staff, and the wider community through surveys. The 2024-2025 calendar incorporates 79,200 minutes of instruction, exceeding the state's minimum requirement of 75,600 minutes, a flexibility afforded to the district under its "District of Innovation" plan.
