Tyler ISD Finalizes 2024-25 Instructional Calendar
Tyler ISD's Board of Trustees officially approved the instructional calendar for the 2024-25 school year during its regular meeting on Monday, April 15th. The finalized calendar establishes key dates for students, staff, and families across the district in Tyler, Texas.
Students in Tyler ISD will commence the 2024-25 academic year on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024. The last day of instruction for students will be Friday, May 23rd, 2025, with graduation ceremonies scheduled for the afternoon and evening of that day.
The calendar incorporates several breaks and holidays throughout the academic year. Winter Break is scheduled from Monday, December 23rd, 2024, through Friday, January 3rd, 2025. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, following a professional learning day for staff on Monday, January 6th. Spring Break is set for Monday, March 10th, through Friday, March 14th, 2025.
Two early release days are designated within the calendar: Friday, December 20th, 2024, preceding Winter Break, and Friday, May 23rd, 2025, which marks the last day of school.
Additional student holidays include:
* Labor Day: Monday, September 2nd, 2024
* Friday, October 11th, 2024
* Monday, November 4th, 2024
* Election Day: Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, which also serves as a professional learning day for staff.
* Thanksgiving Break: Monday, November 25th, through Friday, November 29th, 2024
* President's Day: Monday, February 17th, 2025
* Good Friday: Friday, April 18th, 2025
* Flex Day: Monday, April 21st, 2025
The district has also designated Monday, June 2nd, and Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, as bad weather make-up days, should they be required.
The calendar development process involved a dedicated committee comprising teachers, parents, and community members. This committee reviewed various options, and the district actively sought public feedback on two proposed calendar choices between March 13th and March 20th, prior to the Board of Trustees making its final decision.
