**Dr. Arlanda Williams Officially Named Tyler ISD Superintendent; Two Others Promoted**
TYLER, Texas — The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees officially approved Dr. Arlanda Williams as the district's new Superintendent during its March 2024 meeting, solidifying her leadership effective April 1, 2024. The board also announced two additional significant leadership promotions within the district, also effective April 1.
Dr. Williams had served as the lone finalist for the superintendent position since February 21, following her tenure as Interim Superintendent which began last November. Her journey with Tyler ISD commenced in 2020 when she joined as Deputy Superintendent, progressively taking on increased responsibilities within the district.
Taking on the role of Deputy Superintendent is Dr. Kimberly Thomas, who previously served as the Chief Academic Officer for Tyler ISD. Dr. Thomas also joined the Tyler ISD team in 2020, bringing several years of experience to her new position.
Succeeding Dr. Thomas as the new Chief Academic Officer is Dr. Tamerah Hunt. Dr. Hunt was previously the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Like her fellow new appointees, Dr. Hunt has been an integral part of Tyler ISD since 2020, demonstrating a deep understanding of the district's academic goals and strategies.
These leadership changes mark a new chapter for Tyler ISD. More information about the district and its leadership can be found on the official Tyler ISD website at tylerisd.org.
