Tyler, TX – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) totaling $174.2 million for extensive renovation and expansion projects at Chapel Hill High School and Hubbard Middle School. The approval, granted at their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, marks a significant advancement in the district's $200 million 2022 Bond Program.
For Chapel Hill High School, the board approved a budget of $118,500,000. Gallagher Construction has been designated as the contractor for this project. Planned enhancements include new classrooms for career and technical education (CTE) and fine arts programs, a new gymnasium, upgraded athletic facilities, a secure entry vestibule to enhance safety, and improved outdoor common spaces. The project at Chapel Hill High is anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2026.
Hubbard Middle School's project received approval for $55,700,000. The scope of work includes the construction of a new two-story classroom wing, additional fine arts classrooms, an expanded main cafeteria, and improvements to parking and traffic flow. Like Chapel Hill High, Hubbard Middle School will also receive a secure entry vestibule and enhanced outdoor common areas. This project is also slated for completion by the fall of 2026.
These two projects combine for a total approved amount of $174,200,000. The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees will hold another special meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, to discuss the Guaranteed Maximum Price for the new RISE Academy campus, continuing their efforts to modernize and expand district facilities.
