**Tyler ISD Board Approves 2024-2025 Academic Calendar**
TYLER, TX – The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year during its March meeting, setting key dates for students, staff, and families. The adopted calendar outlines the start and end of the school year, major breaks, professional development days, and graduation.
Students will begin the 2024-2025 academic year on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The final day of instruction for students will be Thursday, May 22, 2025, observed as an early release day.
Graduation ceremonies for the high school Class of 2025 are scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2025, and will take place at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center, located at 3900 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75799.
The calendar includes several standard breaks. Thanksgiving Break is a full week, running from Monday, November 25, through Friday, November 29, 2024. The Christmas Break will span from Monday, December 23, 2024, to Friday, January 3, 2025. Spring Break is set for Monday, March 10, to Friday, March 14, 2025.
Professional development (PD) days for staff, with no students attending, are scheduled for August 1-2, August 5-6, October 11, January 6, February 17, March 7, and April 18. Additionally, student holidays where staff may still be working include October 14, November 4, December 2-3, January 20, February 18, March 17, and April 21.
The district has also designated May 27 and May 28, 2025, as bad weather make-up days, should they be needed.
The approved calendar was developed by the District Calendar Committee, which comprises teachers, parents, and community members. The committee presented several options to the Board, with Option 1 ultimately being selected. The calendar was developed in accordance with state requirements under TEC 25.081.
