Tyler ISD Approves 2024-25 Leadership & Principal Changes

TYLER, Texas – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a series of leadership appointments and administrative shifts for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year at its regular meeting on Monday, April 15, 2024. The changes include a new assistant superintendent and several principal rotations across elementary and magnet campuses.

Dr. Arnitria Williams, previously the Executive Director of Elementary Education, will step into the role of Assistant Superintendent for Administration.

Among the principal changes, Dr. Jermaine Ross will transition from Rice Elementary School to become the Principal at Owens Elementary School. Dr. Tonya Brown, currently Principal at Clarkston Elementary School, will move to lead Rice Elementary School. Dr. Tracy Johnson will leave Bell Elementary School to serve as Principal at Clarkston Elementary School.

The leadership shuffle continues with Dr. Jennifer Scott moving from Peete Elementary School to become Principal at Bell Elementary School. Dr. Brandi DeBerry will transition from Caldwell Arts Academy to Peete Elementary School. Dr. Tracie Brown, who has been Principal at Moore MST Magnet School, will take the helm at Caldwell Arts Academy.

Further adjustments include Dr. Amanda Allen's move from Andy Woods Elementary School to Moore MST Magnet School, and Dr. Amy Brown's transfer from Orr Elementary School to become Principal at Andy Woods Elementary School.

In a new addition to the district, Dr. Kristen King will join Tyler ISD as the Principal of Austin Elementary School. Dr. King comes to Tyler ISD from Houston ISD, where she previously served as an elementary principal.

During the meeting, the board also recognized several principals for their academic achievements. Dr. Angela Brown, Principal of Orr Elementary School, Dr. Jermaine Ross, soon-to-be Principal of Owens Elementary School, and Dr. Tonya Brown, soon-to-be Principal of Rice Elementary School, were acknowledged for earning their doctorates.

Additionally, Dr. Angela Brown of Orr Elementary School and Dr. Kristen King of Austin Elementary School were celebrated for their campuses achieving "School of Distinction" status for the 2023-2024 school year.
