**Tyler ISD Board Approves 2024-25 School Calendar, Setting Early August Start**

TYLER, TX – The Tyler Independent School District Board of Trustees officially approved the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year at their regular meeting on Monday, November 20, 2023. The approved calendar, designated "Option B," outlines an early August start and a finish before Memorial Day, a feature highly favored by surveyed parents, staff, and community members.

Students in Tyler ISD will begin classes on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The final day of instruction for students is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Key dates for student holidays and breaks include:
* **Labor Day:** Monday, September 2, 2024 (staff professional development day)
* **Fall Break:** Monday, October 14, 2024 (staff professional development day)
* **Thanksgiving Break:** Monday, November 25, through Friday, November 29, 2024
* **Winter Break:** Monday, December 23, 2024, through Friday, January 3, 2025. Students will return on Monday, January 6, 2025.
* **Spring Break:** Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14, 2025
* **Good Friday:** Friday, April 18, 2025

Early release days for students are scheduled for Thursday, December 19, 2024, and the last day of school, Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The calendar committee's recommendation for Option B followed a comprehensive survey that garnered over 4,000 responses from parents, staff, and community members. Aside from the early August start and pre-Memorial Day conclusion, other favored aspects of Option B included a one-week fall break and a two-week winter break. The calendar comprises a total of 178 instructional days, with 87 days in the first semester and 91 in the second.

In the event of inclement weather, designated make-up days for students are set for Friday, April 18, 2025 (Good Friday), and Monday, May 26, 2025 (Memorial Day).
