Tyler ISD's Board of Trustees unanimously approved its new "2024-2029 Strategic Plan" at its regular meeting on Monday, April 15. This comprehensive five-year roadmap outlines the district's goals and priorities for the coming years, aiming to enhance the educational experience for all students in Tyler, Texas.
The development of the strategic plan has been a collaborative effort, spearheaded by Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford and the district administration since Fall 2023. The process involved extensive community engagement, gathering feedback from over 3,000 stakeholders, including parents, students, and staff members. The plan is firmly rooted in the "Portrait of a Graduate," which the Board approved in July 2023, defining the ideal qualities and skills for Tyler ISD graduates.
The strategic plan is built upon four key pillars designed to guide the district's initiatives:
* **Culture & Climate:** This pillar focuses on fostering an environment where all members of the Tyler ISD community feel valued, respected, and connected.
* **Student Achievement:** A core focus is ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full academic and personal potential.
* **Financial Stewardship:** This pillar emphasizes transparent and responsible management of district resources, ensuring efficient and effective use of taxpayer dollars.
* **Community & Parent Engagement:** The plan aims to build and strengthen partnerships with parents and the wider Tyler community, recognizing their vital role in student success.
Following the Board's approval, the administration is now tasked with developing specific strategies, initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for each of these pillars. These metrics will be used to measure progress and success over the plan's duration. The Board of Trustees will conduct an annual review of the plan's implementation and progress, ensuring ongoing alignment with the district's vision and goals.
Further details regarding the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan are expected to be made available on the district's official website, www.tylerisd.org.
