**Tyler High School Breaks Ground on New Performing Arts Center**

**TYLER, TX – June 18, 2024** – A groundbreaking ceremony was held today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM, marking the official start of construction for a new Performing Arts Center at Tyler High School. The event took place at the school, located at 1125 Glenwood Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.

Attendees included members of the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Marty Crawford, City of Tyler officials, along with Tyler High School students and staff, celebrating this significant milestone.

Funded by the 2022 Bond Program, the new facility will span approximately 45,000 square feet. It is designed to feature a state-of-the-art 900-seat auditorium, a dedicated scene shop, modern dressing rooms, instrument and costume storage, advanced lighting and sound booths, and multiple classrooms and practice rooms.

This critical project addresses the current limitations posed by Tyler High School's nearly 60-year-old auditorium and aims to alleviate the need for both Tyler High School and Legacy High School fine arts programs to share facilities for major events.

Huckabee served as the architect for the project, with Cadence McShane Construction designated as the general contractor. Construction is anticipated to conclude in late Spring 2026. The new Performing Arts Center is expected to significantly enhance educational opportunities for students and serve as a prominent cultural resource for the Tyler community.
