**Tyler ISD Voters to Consider $375 Million Bond on May 4, No Tax Rate Increase Projected**
TYLER, TX – Tyler Independent School District voters will head to the polls on Saturday, May 4, to decide on a $375 million bond package split across two propositions. The district projects no tax rate increase if the bond passes, with the property tax rate anticipated to decrease from $1.0963 to $1.0854.
Early voting for the bond election begins Monday, April 22, and runs through Tuesday, April 30.
Proposition A, the larger of the two, totals $369.8 million. This funding is primarily designated for the construction of a new high school in the Tyler High area. Additionally, Proposition A would provide significant renovations and additions to existing campuses across the district, addressing critical needs such as HVAC system replacements, roof repairs, enhanced safety and security upgrades, and the expansion of career and technical education (CTE) programs.
Proposition B, totaling $5.2 million, focuses on specific athletic facility improvements. This proposition would fund a new multi-purpose facility at Tyler Legacy High School, initially designed to support baseball and softball programs but also available for use by other sports.
Tyler ISD officials emphasize that the passage of the bond is not expected to raise the district’s property tax rate. They note that the district has successfully lowered its tax rate for the past four consecutive years.
