Tyler ISD voters will decide on a nearly half-billion-dollar bond package in an upcoming election, with Election Day set for Saturday, May 4, 2024. Early voting for the bond election begins on Monday, April 22, and concludes on Tuesday, April 30.
The proposed bond totals $497,850,000, which Tyler ISD officials state is not projected to cause a tax rate increase for homeowners. The district attributes this to rising property values and the retirement of existing debt.
The bond package is divided into three separate propositions that will appear on the ballot:
**Proposition A**, the largest component at $443.1 million, addresses a wide range of district needs. This includes funding for a new elementary school, expansion of the Early College High School, and upgrades to the Career & Technology Center. Additionally, Proposition A would provide for Fine Arts upgrades, district-wide athletic facility improvements for all campuses, and crucial enhancements to campus safety and security.
**Proposition B**, totaling $39.9 million, is specifically designated for the construction of an additional gymnasium at Tyler High School, located in Tyler, TX.
**Proposition C**, valued at $14.8 million, aims to provide a new gymnasium for Legacy High School, also in Tyler, TX.
Residents of Tyler ISD are encouraged to cast their ballots during the early voting period from April 22-30, 2024, or on Election Day, May 4, 2024.
