**Groundbreaking Rescheduled for New Tyler High School, Community Invited**
TYLER – The much-anticipated groundbreaking ceremony for Tyler's new comprehensive high school has been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 11th, at 9:00 a.m. The event, originally planned for Monday, June 3rd, was postponed due to earlier weather concerns.
Community members, students, parents, staff, and local officials are all invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at the new school site located at 14200 State Highway 155 South in Tyler. The groundbreaking signifies a major milestone for the district and the broader community.
This new facility is a cornerstone project of the $198 million 2022 Bond Program, which was overwhelmingly approved by voters in November 2022. The new high school alone represents an investment of approximately $150 million from the bond.
Upon its projected opening in Fall 2026, the new high school will be capable of accommodating around 2,000 students. It is designed to serve as the district's second comprehensive high school, working in conjunction with the existing Tyler High. This expansion aims to provide increased educational opportunities and capacity for the growing student population.
Furthermore, the current Tyler High building is slated for a significant transformation. Following the opening of the new high school, the existing campus will be reimagined and repurposed as a dedicated Career and Technology Center, offering specialized educational pathways for students. The development on State Highway 155 South represents a significant step forward in the district's long-term vision for educational excellence.
